Writing this review through blurry eyes because I CAN’T STOP CRYING. I AM BROKEN. This book was so phenomenal, I’m actually at a loss for words. This was devastating, heartbreaking, encouraging, inspiring, sickening, uplifting. HOW DOES SHE MANAGE TO DO THIS FOR EVERY BOOK?

Elsa is KH’s most devastating character, hands down. She needed a win so badly. The character development amidst all that she has gone through truly makes her one of her best characters. For all the girlies that love their mommies (me AF), this will speak to you. I am so mf proud of her 😭

Loreda was an incredibly frustrating and complicated character but I loved her so much. We can all reflect on our childhood and how we treated our parents/how much they angered us. She was the perfect example of the moody, angsty preteen who just can’t fathom anything her mom does. She’s forced to grow up too fast, too soon, and only then can she empathize with everything Elsa did for her. It was so beautifully written and heartbreaking.

I very high key wish we knew what ended up happening to
Rafe but not knowing is the correct choice here; why would we give af about a man?

Kristin Hannah and Julia Whalen are a lethal combination for me. Kristin, never stop writing. Julia, never stop speaking. Another absolute winner.
