Little Failure
by Gary Shteyngart
I know and love Gary Shteyngart's fictional writings, but this superbly written memoir reveals many facets of Gary S.'s life thus far that are compelling, heartbreaking, unabashedly honest and, of course, laugh out loud funny. He covers much ground, from growing up as a Jew in Russian, emigrating to the US, enduring the put downs by his parents, looking for love, discovering and honing his writing skills and, not unlike many Russians, his love for all things liquor. This memoir serves as a vehicle to demonstrate how he has matured through the years and seemingly healed some wounds with his parents. A listened to this book and the narration was wonderful!
