Manly Enough? by Priyanka Das

Do our Men safe in our society?

Manly enough? by Priyanka Das is a work of fiction reflecting the social issues.

This is an emotional story of three teens Pallavi, Ripu, and Kartik. When we talk about childhood, beautiful nostalgic moments come into our minds. But what happens when childhood is disturbed and tinted? It leaves a scar for life.

The theme of the story is based on a troubled childhood. All three protagonists went through a horrible past, which scarred their mental health and soul for life. Pallavi is the victim of bullies and sexual harassment, Kartik is an orphan and rape victim, and Ripu is also an orphan and framed by a goon.
The author talks about many different things, such as mental health, bullies, orthodox social practices, rape, PTSD, and friendship in general.

This is a thought-provoking read. Among all the chaos and horrific events in this read, I love the bonding of all three characters. Having friends in life is a great way to go through life, especially when these friends keep you safe and stands by your side all the time.

Through Ripu and Kartik, the character author did a great job breaking the stereotype picture of Man in our society. We always portray the strong side of the man in our community. But what about the pain and agony they hold.

After reading the book, I feel how men in our society overestimated to play their roles and to fit in the role they went through many traumas. The worst part is they don’t even talk about their traumas in fear of being judged.

With her lucid writing style, Priyanka smoothly conveys a message to all men to understand their emotions and express them above the false masculinity traits set by society.
Overall, this is an emotional and thought-provoking read with a great message.
