~Review~

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I picked it up as is was the Book of the Month at Waterstones and I thought it would be the perfect book to read during spooky season.

The writing style is so engaging and I was hooked from page one. Kenny creates such a detailed and atmospheric world in Rookhaven and that is enhanced by the beautiful illustrations by Bettison.

This book finds the right balance of light and dark with some lovely wholesome moments mixed in with some frankly creepy ones. The curious nature of the plot keeps you glued to the pages and I really didn’t want to put it down.

A perfect spooky season read for most ages (I’d probably say 12+) and I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel!
