While the writing in this book was superb as always, I admit it was a little haunting to read this prequel knowing what is to come a few years down the road in Code Name Verity. However, the mystery element was compelling and exciting (and an interesting departure from her usual genre) and it was very cool to see Julie's early years and be able to spend a bit more time as a reader with her before she became the spy we all know and love!
