"Seriously at this point anyone will do... take my place and stay by his side.”
➽ I'm hooked on this series! I was tempted to binge all the volumes in one go, because after the ending of the first volume I needed to know what happened. Yoshiki is overwhelmed by Hikaru's unnerving presence and finally confronts him. The angst between these two is SO good. Yoshiki's still feeling conflicted, especially since talking to a woman who encountered a similar situation. Being near Hikaru is dangerous, yet Yoshiki has a hard time staying away. Nevertheless, strange distortions have been happening all over town and they seem to be drawn to Yoshiki. Hikura still vows to protect him, but it seems like being close to him 'mixed' Yoshiki with the paranormal. There were some genuinely chilling panels and I'm intrigued to learn more about these phenomena! I also loved the extra content as we see Hikaru trying to figure out the nuance of human relationships. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I liked how this explored different types of attractions, as Hikaru has no idea if he harbors romantic or platonic feelings due to being different from most people.
➽ We also learn a bit more about the time Hikaru disappeared. It definitely explained why the Fake Hikaru is so intent on staying by Yoshiki's side! Still, I want to know even more about the original Hikaru, as we still know so little about him and why he was in the forest that night. Even more worrying is the fact that the woods harbor deep-seated secrets and the whole village seems to have a deeper connection to the other side than is visible at first. I love the element of mystery that surrounds Hikaru and the distortions that he might be causing!
