Twisted Games - Special Edition by Ana Huang

2.0

Oh, isn't this the most basic cliché vanilla ass dark romance I have ever read?

I mean cmon nothing ever happened in the book. It was so vanilla, so basic, so cliché, so bland. There was nothing to read, no intense yearning, no stolen glances, no secret touching.
Wasn't this supposed to be a forbidden romance? Fuck no cuz they were out there fucking in broad daylight.

This is my first Ana Huang book, and as I have heard her best one. And undebatabely this would be the only book I would be reading of hers.

I have read such toe-curling, phenomenal, off the charts dark romances books in my life that I cannot tone down to this level.

Alyssa says, "Why does every booktok book feel like a 12 y/o writing their first book on wattpad?" And I couldn't agree any more.

I mean what is this? Why is this so damn overhyped when there are MUCH MORE INTENSE, HOTTER, SEXIER AND THRILLING dark romances out there.

I can promise you to pick any wattpad dark romance book, and it'll turn out to be a lot better than this one. Whether it is in terms of writing, or character development, or thrills, or drama or smut.

I was waiting for some thrill, some drama to stir up, just a little fucking dramatic fight that would drift them apart, something to keep me going with this story. Nothing ever happens.

Instead what we get? The most basic npc male lead ever.
Rhys Larsen.

He doesn't even fall in my spectrum of hot males. Heck, even his dirty talk is a whole cringefest on its own.

"I don't get emotionally involved with my clients."
*falls head over heels for bridget in the first look*
I swear I did the biggest fucking dramatic facepalm in the history of mankind.

There is no development or depth in their romance. The time skips were the most stupid useless thing to add in this book, like why?? Isn't building up the tension and romance the only job our author had to do? But nah miss Ana Huang got lazy and skipped writing the most important element of a romance book by making the readers jump over 3 years of time.

And not to mention the smut ended before it even started.

Okay I won't lie. I was reading some horrendous books lately and I just wanted to read some feel good books as a guilty pleasure, even if the writing is shit and the characters were bland as fuck. And maybe at times, this book did make me feel things, even at the most cliché moments. And for that I added a star to my review.
But can I give anything more? No. Cuz this book gave me nothing more.

I'm respectful of people's opinions, but I can assure you that people who love this book are either 12 y/olds or have never touched a dark romance book ever before in their life.
