My favorite read of the year (so far). Al-Mohtar’s mastery of language is mesmerizing. The River Has Roots disguises itself as a dark fairy tale, but more than anything, it is a spell. I also found, while reading, that it gave me the same feeling as watching a Miyazaki film. Howl’s Moving Castle vibes!
