Louisa Thatcher is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. This book is more than just a well-written romance, it’s an exploration of gender, sexuality, friendship, family, and identity. 

Incredibly, though it’s been nearly 35 since its first publication, many of the topics of this book remain relevant in lesbian culture today.
