I received Chosen in return for an honest review from the author. Shanti is the last of her kind, running for her life when hunted by the people who took her family. For the last year she’s been fleeing for her life but the life on the road isn’t easy and Shanti is almost dead rescued by a group of boys. They bring her back to their city where their leader is willing to let her get better so she can leave. Only he knows she has a secret and won’t let her go till he knows what she’s hiding.

The Captain’s job is to protect his people just like his family has for generation. Shanti wants to flee the city to avoid the hunters who are looking for her worried that they will end up in the city. When the Captain refuses to let her go but lets her stay in the city she starts training the boys that found her in fighting quickly turning them into better fighter than the current candidates. With the looming threat of war arrives at the cities door Shanti joins the fight forever changing her fate.

I like Shanti she’s stubborn, smart and willing to risk it all for what she believes is right which I like in a hero. At first I wasn’t sure but as the story progressed she stole my heart, her life has been anything but easy it’s tragic but she deals with it well. I liked the Captain Cayan he’s a good guy who looks out for his people and even a stranger. Some of the supporting characters are great and I hope to see them in future books.

Chosen is an epic fantasy in my opinion which isn’t my typical genre but who can say no to that cover or synopsis? The book is action packed loaded with a kick ass heroine, sexy men and bad guys around every corner. The characters are well written they are easy to connect with and you can’t help getting drawn into Shanti’s world. I like that the author has created a unique world loaded with fascinating characters that capture the heart as well as the imagination. Chosen is truly a fantastic story that I emensly enjoyed staying up super late just to finish because I was dying to know what would happen to Shanti. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I highly recommend if you like epic fantasy and kick ass heroine’s that you check Chosen out.
