Scandal of the Year: Abandoned at the Altar by Laura Lee Guhrke

3.0

I love second chance romances, but I’m not quite sure how to articulate my feelings about this story. It was good. I didn’t finish it feeling happy or sappy, just glad to have made it to the end.

Julie’s aversion to being vulnerable was not revealed until close to the end. And yet it plays a huge role in this story. Because the reader is left in the dark, I just felt a bit confused and frustrated by her behavior.

There is a bit of time jumping in this story. I didn’t find it entirely necessary.

Aidan is a starchy hero who is the honorable, cinnamon roll type of guy.

Also, this story takes place in the early 1900’s. I kept forgetting that until the heroine would be driving her car. I am so used to reading early and mid 19th century books, that this fact kept startling me.
