Deep End
by Ali Hazelwood
I really liked Lukas as a character- he really made the book for me. I liked the narrators for the audiobook and I think that helped me to be invested. I also thought it was a cool and unique idea to set this story around swimmers and divers. I thought the scope of the story in that context was fun to read. I liked Scarlett as a character in some ways but I also really disliked the way she would shy away from acknowledging her true feelings in many situations- with friends, her diving, and with Lukas. That’s what knocked it down for me, because I can’t stand miscommunication, especially when it’s a recurring theme. The ending did redeem some of that though. Overall this was a fun ride, but I am coming to the conclusion that Ali Hazelwood may not be the author for me.
