The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang

4.0

I really really liked the story, narrative structure, and approach of this book. There is a lot implied by the story here that, had the story had a different perspective, we would've been told directly which just isn't as interesting. I think some of the world building stuff isn't explained as well as I should be, but if you can get past not putting some pieces of the world together until the end of the book, then this is absolutely worth your time.
