Bindi by Dub Leffler, Kirli Saunders

4.0

I really enjoyed this quiet, yet powerful verse novel. It is written from the point of view of Bindi, an 11 year old girl and chronicles events including bushfires, a broken wrist, hockey and finding a black cockatoo chick that needs help.

It is beautifully presented, in hardback with small, detailed illustrations. Gundungurra language is scattered throughout, with a very helpful glossary at the end

It speaks of caring for Country, of community and of resilience. I'm interested to know which students it will connect with.
