I'm really happy that Riot got CL Clark to do the Ambessa book because we get someone who loves and understands the character doing some of the character work that they couldn't show on screen because "budget" and "priorities", and giving us both the macrocosm of global politics and war within the larger world and the microcosm of the family drama between Mel and Ambessa. This is essentially the "how did Mel and Ambessa get where they are by the opening of episode 1" background, but done in a way where I would love to see more of Ambessa fucking around to secure her family dynasty and making Bad Choices (tm). If you want more Ambessa, more Mel, pick this up and it's hard to go wrong. (Plus hey, maybe we can get more Arcane content via the novel route! A girl can dream!)
