Overall, I really the world building, magic system and characters throughout the book. I ADORED Finn, and will admit to swooning a little over her relationship with Alfie (it’s honestly the reason I bumped this from a 3 to a 4)
I think my biggest complaint/critique is the writing style this book had. There were a lot of repetitive phrases or sentences that kinda took me out of the book at times? I would be a bit interested to see how it is compared in the second book though.
If you love diverse characters, an in-depth world/kingdom, and stories that are primarily told in one night...I would definitely recommend this book.
Oh and I will say the violence & magic scenes can get quite on the gore. (That could be a positive or negative for some)
