My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
5.0
This story was easy to get sucked into. It's based in the 80s and two teen girls, who coincidentally happen to be friends, go to a part at their friend Margaret's. Abby is a poor girl and Gretchen is a rich one. Against all odds, their friendship works. At Margaret's, they take LSD and Gretchen goes to jump in the water at low tide and disappears for hours. Everyone looks for here and she eventually emerges naked, dirty, and forever changed. Gretchen starts acting weird and Abby does her best to help her but ultimate believes she was SA'd by someone at Margaret's.
We follow down a rabbit hole of scary meetings, a tiff between friends, and then an outcast Abby determined to help her friend Gretchen while Gretchen destroys everyone's lives by wreaking havoc.
I loved Grady's writing. The fluidity of the story was paced extremely well and had me grappling to turn the pages faster while also making sure every light was on in my apartment. Great read, definitely reccomend!
