Hey, Kiddo: How I Lost My Mother, Found My Father, and Dealt with Family Addiction by Jarrett J. Krosoczka

5.0

I both listened to the audio and read the graphic novel version of this story. They're both really excellent, but I might actually prefer the audio. The print has nice pictures, and I love the inclusion of the pieces from the author's actual life that start each chapter, but the audio is really, really excellent. The voices and sound effects are all really well done, and the story behind the production made me very emotional.

As for the actual story, it also made me very emotional. Anyone who has loved ones who suffer from drug addiction will find something sad to relate to hear. But even if you don't know anyone who has these struggles, the story of growing up will resonate.
