Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

3.0

I'm not sure if it was because this book was hyped too much but it wasn't my favourite.

I thought parts of it were great and super cool (ie. how the magic works, how it uses fantasy to explore racism, and the sheer diversity of characters), but ultimately I could put the book down and forget about it for days at a time. Part of that is that some of the characters were just too dramatic for me and part of it I think is the plot. Parts of the story felt very slow and even the promise of a big finale didn't keep me going.

Overall not a bad book just not what I was looking for!
