I Saw Myself Alive in a Coffin by Kait Quinn

5.0

This book is incredible. I wish I was better at writing reviews so I could do justice to how good these poems are. The imagery throughout is so vivid and masterfully done. Some favourites were: ‘I Am I Am I Am’, ‘Seven Shades of Sadness’, and ‘When We Get There’. Also have been re-reading ‘I Am Dying Many Deaths Daily’ too many times to count. I could go on and on but I’ll end with one of my favourites lines that resonated with me from ‘The Funeral’: “I know not much of death / except that I’ve yearned for it, made love to it / romanticized it into a sweet release”. Kait, thank you for writing something that I relate to so profoundly and putting words to feelings I have always had.
