3.5. I was predisposed to like this, as Moana is my favorite Disney Animation movie. There were some interesting things in this book, and it is stated over and over that the filmmakers did a lot of research in order to get cultural aspects correct.
My issue isn’t with the book, but with the filmmakers doing research rather than just hiring Pasifika people. I love this movie, but as I read this I couldn’t help but wonder what the movie would look like if made by the people it portrays.
