Legionnaire by Jason Anspach, Nick Cole

5.0

Excellent book, reads like a grittier, more relatable Clone Wars. The narrator feels like a real-world veteran telling war stories, complete with frustration at incompetent bureaucrats who jeapordize missions while trying to take credit for everything. There's an interesting form of cynicism here, where the galaxy generally sucks as a whole, but mixed with encouraging bonds of duty and mutual trust between the legionnaires.

I've been looking for a good military sci-fi series, and I think I've finally found one that clicks for me. I'm definitely going to read the sequels!
