Come As You Are: Revised and Updated: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life by Emily Nagoski

informative reflective medium-paced

3.0

Interesting and useful book that challenges a lot of messages women hear from early age. More of a self-help book than anything else, even if the author kept referring to "it's science!". I'm sure the very conversational tone and many repetitions make this more accessible, but for me it sometimes felt a bit silly because of it. Still, the main message of "everyone/everything is normal" is important. The book has a clear focus on partnered sex and even if the author often said "have as much or as little sex as you want" I still felt like the underlying message was "more sex is the goal". As a sex-favourable ace person, I am clearly not the main target audience but I still found this interesting. That being said, I think asexuality was mentioned just twice. Once when talking about sexual inhibitors and once as something someone thought they could be and "overcame". With how much the author preached about how your sexuality can't be wrong - this was a bit disappointing.
