Slower than the first part. At some points, the characters are shown to be dumber than they should be at that point. Some of the character development from the last book have been carried over (notably, Edward's) which is a delight, but some characters have regressed to being how they were at the start of the first book until the point where it is plot appropriate for them to act mature.

The ending was highly anti-climactic, and the whole book felt like an old person complaining about the 'modern fads'. Some points made in the book are justified, but most of it is reminiscent of 'development sucks so lets go back to ways that are hundreds of years old'.

Overall, a good but slow read.
