Critically
Plot – 4 out of 5 stars
I feel like I constantly repeat myself for this entire series but I just can’t help it. The plot is fast-paced, action-packed, completely hilarious and dramatic. It’s so entertaining and surprising, things definitely picked up this time around after the slight disappointment of the last book. Definitely enjoyed this one much more.
Writing Style – 4 out of 5 stars
Again, repeating myself but I don’t care. It’s funny, historically accurate, and imaginative. It’s really verbose, there are not too many chapters but there are pretty long in length. Plus it’s detailed and very descriptive, it’s very easy to feel immersed into the plot.
Characters – 5 out of 5 stars
Said it before and I’ll say it again, I love these characters. I am definitely much happier with the representation of the personalities of the characters in this installment. Alexia is back to her awesome freaking self. She’s back to being determined, commanding and powerful. She’s sassy and totally in her element. Plus, there is an extra aspect of her that is strange still but totally adorable and I like it a lot more than the new aspect from last book. Conall is three times better than the last time. He’s still impatient as always, but he’s sweet and caring. He’s smart and powerful and I love him. The supporting characters are freaking awesome. There’s a new specific story line that I think is amazing and there’s also some new information about a particular character’s past that just blows my mind.

Emotionally
SpoilerDefinitely enjoyed this one a lot more than it’s predecessor but I still felt that there was something missing.

The plot was crazy! It almost felt like something from a completely different series. There was so much going on at once and I could not believe even half of it. We start off with a ghost spouting off deadly conspiracies, Alexia is in a very delicate condition, there are people trying to end her life and that’s just the beginning! There is so much action, I honestly don’t know how it all it into one book and even more, how Alexia survived it all. I didn’t really understand how she got involved into the whole plot drama that was going on. It sort of took her in by association and was not actually something she had to be a participant in. But because she is such a great and caring person, when there is a crisis that involves her friends or is part of her job description, she dives right into it with no thought behind her actions. Gotta love her. There were quite a few side plots that sprung up and started to mix together and become one giant crazy mess. It completely blew me away to be quite honest.

Alexia is amazing. If I hadn’t said it before or even if I have, she’s one of my favorite characters ever. Her condition does not slow her down at all and she is just as strong and sassy as ever. I am so glad that she is on her tip top shape even though it’s insanity that it is.

Lord Maccon is so cute in this book! There is a specific plot line that involves Lord Akeldama, Professor Lyall and Biffy and it’s completely heartbreaking and it made me want to die. Genevive or Madame Lefoux is crazy insane! This book made me kind of hate her a little bit to be quite honest. I wish I could go deeper into this, so badly!
