RTC... this made me laugh, made me cry and just made me so happy! So many quotable moments and so many lessons that adults need to refresh themselves on. So relevant to today. Loved this!!

I had been seeing this book all over the place and it’s for a good reason. The story inside is just as beautiful as the cover.
Linus leads a very solitary life. His life is pretty much the same thing over and over and nothing changes. He likes it that way. One day, this all changes when he’s set on an assignment to check on an orphanage of “special magical children.” He is dreading it but it turns out to change his life for the better and insert much needed color.
“A home isn’t always the house we live in. It’s also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.”
“Your bubble, Mr. Baker. It’s been popped. Why would you allow it to grow around you again?”
I loved Linus so much. He had me laughing from the very beginning with his witty internal dialogue. I love how much he cared about his job and he took it so seriously. He seems so off putting to everyone but inside he’s a big teddy bear. The way he interacts with the children will make your heart melt. From the very beginning, you know that Linus is a great man.
Actually, all the characters in this book are absolutely amazing. The children just found a place in my heart and I can’t stop thinking about them! They are hilarious, sweet, fun and so caring. I will say that no one made me laugh as much as Lucy! Wow!! He was hilarious. I wont ruin anything but he’s got a lot on his shoulders and he’s the sweetest kid. I LOVED how he interacted with Lucy. I just found myself laughing out loud a lot! Really, they are all very funny. Arthur and Linus are pretty much perfect! The romance was so subtle and so well done.
“I’m afraid I don’t have magic.”
“You do, Mr. Baker. Arthur told me that there can be magic in the ordinary.”
This writing is so beautiful. I have heard a lot of people say it feels like middle grade but for adults. I can totally see why but it doesn’t take anything away from this book. There are a lot of lessons and a lot of quotable things in this book. So many deep topics are covered and it’s so relevant to today.
Overall, I loved everything about this book. It’s sweet, funny, heartbreaking at times and just beautiful. I laughed, I cried and I just felt so happy at the end. Once you pick this up it will be so hard to put down. I don’t typically re-read books (ever) but this is one that I definitely will!
