in 2021 I had a bunch of online mutuals who like the magnus archives and I thought it sounded interesting but I can't listen to podcasts so when I found out the creator wrote a book I thought oh this will be fun!! and asked my library to buy it. they said "we will, when it comes out in the us!" (possibly 2022?) for months in 2022 it said it was On Order in the catalog and on its way to my library until it disappeared from the catalog entirely. but finally in 2024 I am in ireland for the semester and the library here has it so I got to read it.
i was not expecting this to be so disconnected for the first 50% or so. I enjoyed when the stories started tying together quite a bit but up until then it was VERYYY easy to forget the characters...when we got to the final chapter I couldn't remember who a couple of the people were. my favorite of the first 12 stories were alvita, caroline, and laura...maybe leon also. i really enjoyed the stories as they stood on their own though. but the last chapter with the constant pov switching was a little hard to follow.. though I did like that they
all got together to kill him in the end
it didn't really seem to...make sense? it just sort of happened in a sort of frenzy
