Ladies in Hating
by Alexandra Vasti
Did I cry multiple times? Yes.
A sapphic romance with yearning, only one bed, a tub and mirror bang, childhood crushes, rivals, a small gothic mystery, beautifully descriptive writing, and a precious pooch!
I've been moderately obsessed with Georgiana since book one of the Belvoir's Library series. She's such an intriguing character, and I've been dying for her story. I was not disappointed. Vasti's portrayal of Georgiana was wonderful and at times very relatable (hence, the tears). Cat, a rival gothic novelist, was the perfect match for Georgiana. I actually loved that these two knew each other as children and that Cat was Georgiana's sapphic awakening; it added a beautiful layer of intimacy to their relationship. At first, Georgiana and Cat are off to a rocky start thanks to their competing novels and Georgiana's belief that Cat is mildly plagiarizing her work. Their back and forth goes on for quite a bit, but the yearning is immediate and we know these two are down bad! Vasti did not hold back on the spice giving us a tub bang (which all historicals should include imo) and a mirror bang! Spice doesn't equate a relationship though, and Georgiana and Cat have to fight inner and outer demons to find their HEA. But have no fear, they find it with support from their family and friends (this may be one of my favorite things about Vasti's books, the connections to other characters)!
Friends, Alexandra Vasti can do no wrong, trust me. Check out this book, and the rest of Vasti's books and thank me later!
Thanks to the publisher for the arc. All opinions are my own.
