This was a challenging book to get through. While I understand the use of the n-word, it was jarring to continually hear. Overall, the stories were enlightening to understand rural white America’s stories/perspective from the standpoint of a young boy who has both picked up on the social cues for what it means to be young, white, male/boy, and from the country.
