For much of this book I could not tell if I loved or hated this book. It has a meandering pacing and much of it is inner dialogue. It is also a muted book, written in quite an understated way and yet carries so much emotion.
It was also quite an unpredictable book, I genuinely did not know what was going to happen which heightened the realism of the book: you don't get foreshadowing in real life.
The characters are not loveable in the conventional way none of them are what I would call a 'good person' and many of the decisions they made and the things they said were poor and yet I was still invested in their lives.
