Rogue Heroes: The History of the SAS, Britain's Secret Special Forces Unit That Sabotaged the Nazis and Changed the Nature of War by Ben Macintyre

adventurous informative fast-paced

4.5

The origin story of the SAS is a slice of history that I was not familiar with. In Ben Macintyre's hands it unfurls with the pace of a gripping thriller.
At the same time, it serves up a smorgasbord of compelling characters. Charismatic but flawed. Courageous but cruel. I found they got inside my head and, I'd be thinking about them even when they weren't part of the action.
