The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Frieda McFadden nails what I call an ‘airport author’ – e.g. her books are perfect for a quick read during a domestic flight.

They're crafted for easy digestion, no big words or heavy jargon, and pretty basic/predictable storylines. Typically, I can predict her endings within the first few chapters. Yet, with "The Housemaid," the game changed a little.

To my surprise, the ending didn't unravel until around the 60% mark for me, at which I wasn’t certain, only suspicious. Keeping me engaged and motivated to find out.

Hats off to the author for keeping me on my toes. Curious to see if this trend persists, diving into the next in the series now.
