  • the audiobook narrator constantly pauses in between every phrase and I keep fixating on it and getting distracted. like, imagine: “[redacted] moaned. And at some point. He lost consciousness. And went quiet.” for the entire book. oh lordy
  • Kyr is an asshole and I don’t understand why she is so much more of an asshole than literally every other kid on the station even though they’ve all had the same education. arrogance from being the best?
  • I don’t care to know what happens next, and any “”redemption”” for Kyr will be too little too late imo. she literally
    made a 12 year old girl lick dirty water off the floor to “teach her a lesson”
    like what the actual fuck, I’ll never get over that
  • the only parts I enjoyed were the lil textbook excerpts before each part and not the actual story lol

kind of disappointing since this was one of my most anticipated releases for 2023, but I had a feeling I’d have this reaction after seeing so many meh to negative reviews. I respect the author for their commitment to this character arc but books with unlikeable main characters are really not my thing.
