Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir

I like Philippa Gregory and Bernard Cornwell so I thought I might like this and I was happy to be right. It's an excellent book, really gripping and full of emotion and brilliant characters - not all of whom are at all likeable. I don't know much about the period of history that this book relates and I'm not sure whether that increased my enjoyment as I had no preconceptions of the events to start with. I knew what would happen at the end, obviously, but that didn't spoil the book in the least. I thought it was wonderful and I really enjoyed it.
