I am hesitant to give books perfect scores. This is my first.

It easily earned the 4.5 ⭐ reviews I usually give something like this, but the thing is, it took me beyond a well told story.

It educated me.

Living in Canada, I don't know a lot about the situation in Australia regarding anything. This book taught me a lot about Australia's situation specifically regarding it's indigenous people.

But then it went even further and taught me new language. The gift this made me cry a little in my kitchen one afternoon as I listened.

This book made me so emotional and I loved it.

Tony Briggs is not someone I was familiar with (again, just totally ignorant of Australian life), but I had a google after enjoying his voice in this work. I found an interesting and handsome man in addition to an entire rabbit whole about a girl group called The Sapphires.

Anyway... I was truly just looking to fill a gap in my reading experience. I was just looking to read something set in Australia. This book genuinely moved me and educated me and all in a beautifully shared way that made me feel so connected to it's characters.

If it intrigues you even a little, check it out.
