The title of this book is what attracted my attention. When I first picked it up, I didn't think I was going to read it all, so I went straight to the end and read the last page (sorry..!). I was then hooked, and started reading the book from the start. I thought knowing the ending already would make it less sad for me, but I was wrong. I found myself on the verge of tears by the end of it, despite knowing what was coming.

Although at first I found the transition from Claire's last note before her Mother's death to her note after her death quite abrupt, I quickly realized and appreciated that that's just how life is – there was no way Claire would've known which note would be her last.

This was truly an emotional read. Some may think the story's "setting" (the refrigerator door) is unrealistic, but this is the reality for many. Being a student/working "child" (young adult) of a single working mother, many of our important conversations are had through text messages, and I imagine our texts would've been refrigerator notes had we been living in a pre-smartphone era.
