This was definitely my favorite Temeraire book so far. I found the exploration of African culture to be so interesting and I thought that it was handled pretty well. And, while Temeraire and the other dragons were fantastic, as usual, it was so much fun to get to focus more on the human side characters that we haven't seen in a couple of books. There was a lot of tension in this book, with the characters (and the reader) being unsure if they were going to get out of the situations. I thought the disease plotline was done well and felt sufficiently hopeless as to make finding the cure a cause for great celebration. And that ending. It's just so emotional and really shows how far Laurance's character has come. From giving up a life at sea to become an aviator out of a sense of duty to England to committing treason against England for his dragon and because it was the right thing to do. Love that, even if Laurance can still be a little uptight at times. Anyways, I'm so excited for the next book!
