Finding Me by Viola Davis

A picture of Viola Davis should be next to the word “resilience” in the dictionary.  Her life story is what movies are made of.  I had to keep reminding myself that what I was reading was non-fiction and not just some fictionalized tale of trauma. 

While Davis discusses a lot of the trauma she’s been through, it never feels like trauma porn.  I really appreciate her ability to bring the vulnerability she brings to the screen, to the page.  Such an incredible memoir about what is means to never give up on your dreams.
