Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft by Jessica Spotswood, Tess Sharpe
DID NOT FINISH: 53%

DNF'd at 53%/right before Divine Are The Stars.

I don't think I like anthologies. This is actually my first time reading one, but I didn't like it and I think it's more than just not liking the stories themselves. I already have a hard time getting into books at the beginning and with anthologies I have to experience that over and over again. I even feel bad DNF'ing the book because I know all the stories are from different authors and I feel like I should give them all a chance. However, I didn't like most of the first half and forcing myself to read the second half is just not worth it to me. Anyway, here are the ratings for the individual stories.

Starsong - 2.5 stars
Too drawn out imo. Nothing really happened except Luna sat in her room and painted, argued with her mom and talked to a girl online. I didn't really feel the chemistry between her and the girl and it ended sort of abruptly. There were also so many comparisons of Luna to her aunt, even when it wasn't warrented.
Afterbirth - 1.5 stars
Got bored and skipped this story. It has strong Crucible energy; which for me, isn't a good thing. There were also too many names for me to keep track of.
The Heart In Her Hands - 3 stars
Interesting, but felt rushed to me. There were quite a few things that I would've liked more explanation on.
Death In the Sawtooths - 2.5 stars
Kind of repetitive, started skimming after awhile. Pretty forgettable.
The Truth About Queenie - 3.5 stars
Not a lot of magic, but it was entertaining.
The Moonapple Menagerie - 2.5 stars
To be honest, I have no clue what happened in this story. I was skimming for parts of it though, so maybe it's my fault.
The Legend of Stone Mary - 2.5 stars
I didn't care for it.
The One Who Stayed - 1.5 stars
I didn't like the writing style.
