Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie

3.0

I've read a fair amount of Christie books, and I find this to be one of the most memorable. I like its exploration of the family dynamics that a majority of the plot revolves around, and how it describes the impact that abuse can have on a person, especially in a family. The intricacies of the murder and surrounding it are also very gripping, hard to put down all the way until the end, as is typical of her stories.

That being said, I must agree with the common gripe with this book, which is that the ending comes out of nowhere. More hints and involvement with the plot or even just the general themes of the story would have been nice to connect the murderer to the victim, but... eh, whatever. This is one of those novels where the journey matters more than the ending.
