Thomas is a capable author. He develops an engaging plot, and drops some solid one-liners and humorous insights. 

I have enjoyed his Klondeagh work before. His short story, "smite me oh dark lord" is my favorite work of his, so it makes sense that this longer piece, also about a villain is pretty good.

Overall, a solid addition to the stack.
