Never Vacation with Your Ex by Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka

4.0

Slight spoilers:
Despite the bad reviews, I enjoyed this book. While I’m not at all athletic, I have always been interested in volleyball, which may have been another factor as to why I liked this book. The further into the book you get, the more romance there is. The romance kind of grossed me out, yet it’s not that cringey romance we all know that makes you want to throw the book across the room. This book adresses the feeling of “needing to be perfect”, which is insanely relatable for me personally. The main character, Kaylee feels pressured to live up to everyone else’s expectations, exhausting herself and making her fear mistakes. I feel like I relate to Kaylee as a person, especially with the perfectionism. If you are a perfectionist, please read this book! Kaylee eventually gets over her perfectionism. While it’s still there deep down, she learns to care more about herself and what she needs, rather than living up to others expectations, inspiring me to do so as well. I enjoyed this book. 4 stars.
