First of all the cover is even more perfect after reading the book, it just fits this story so well. I was happy to dive into the dark and dangerous Hades Hangmen world again. It is one of my favorite series and I just absolutely love how the intricate main storyline keeps on developing more and more each book. Everything is connected and sometimes things aren't what they seem. Even though this book is mainly focusing on Tanner and Adelita, we still get pieces of Styx and a look into his past and current life. I adored his moments with Mae and it makes me want to reread their story again. I love that Tillie Cole really takes the time to develop every character in this series, and it makes me feel even stronger for them. The series and character development is just out of this world good.

The war between the cartel, klan and Hangmen is getting more brutal, serious and dangerous by the day. The love and connection between Tanner and Adelita was beautiful, they are enemies when they first meet, but they both can't fight the forbidden attraction. The loyalty between these two was phenomenal, they were perfect for each other. Darkness Embraced was dark, dangerous, suspenseful, action-packed, emotional and so beautiful at the same time. There were so many moments for which I didn't see a way out for the characters, and my heart broke for them. There were also a couple of twists the author added, which made me sad and happy at the same time. I absolutely loved this book and I was happy I was reunited with my favorite characters again.
