This was a very worthwhile read. It's always sobering to look at examples like this of how major decisions end up made. It provided striking examples of how unreliable information can seem authoritative when it comes from what should be reliable sources and is built on motivated reasoning and unreliable foundations. 
There were parts where it felt a bit like I was reading a list of names and dates in a history textbook but it came together into a pretty compelling narrative.
