This book solidified Bill Willingham as one of my literary heroes of all time, and I earnestly hope he writes more Fables Novels. I have been LOVING the Fables Comic series so it was really great to re-enter that world through my familiar and favorite medium, the novel. All my favorite things about the Fables world were there, along with all the things I love about reading a novel: getting lost in the world and the language and delving a lot deeper into the world and the character's motivations than you usually can in a graphic form.
I have always loved fairytale re-tellings, but I am continuously amazed by Willingham's ability to create such beautiful and intricate stories from all the fairytales and fables we all know and love so well. This was one of the best books I have read in a long time.
