Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson
5.0

A biography can be interesting if you admire the person, but it can become truly wonderful if you are also interested in the person's field. Walter Isaacson's Einstein fits this bill perfectly.

This is my third book by Isaacson. His books not only walk us through the protagonist's life, but also provide technical details of their achievements. Reading this book gave me a deep understanding of Einstein's special relativity, general relativity, and his struggle to unify general relativity with quantum mechanics.

Isaacson's fastidious research is beautifully displayed in every chapter, covering all events in Einstein's life. We are shown not only Einstein the scientist, but also the human side of Einstein. In addition to his science, we also get to see his politics.

Reading this book made me realize how huge of a presence Einstein had in 20th century science. It's amazing to see how involved he was in world politics with his pacifism, anti-war stance, Zionist cause, anti-racial and anti-nationalism stances. The book also sheds light on Einstein's relationships with his wives, sons, stepdaughters, and friends.

Einstein is one of the few personalities of the 20th century whose impact is still benefiting us today. This book does perfect justice to Einstein, and reading it is an experience one should cherish.
