Dark Soul Vol. 3 by Aleksandr Voinov

4.0

First things first, I am SERIOUSLY digging the way these stories are being presented, they are like acts in a play. It works really well. Every time the curtain falls, we have some bits to digest before moving on.

The different sides to Silvio, the machinations in their world, the characters that we need to know (as uncomfortable as that may be) to continue discovering who Silvio is.

Dark Lady I This was straight out of Le Femme Nikita...Holy Shit. Silvio dresses the part of a hooker to catch the four men who kidnapped Stefano. He lures them, does what he has to do. And gets his kill. This story, to me, was brilliant in two ways.

One, it was an exquisitely set up and executed assasination. Cold blooded, and just fucking eerie how that went down. That is a side to Silvio we had not seen, but needed to. Two, Silvio again shows more cracks of a different kind. More vulnerabilities. That need for pain and abuse. It's chilling.

Dark Lady II Here Stefano learns about the killings and realizes who the culprit is. He asks Silvio to explain what happened. Silvio decides to show him. Here we see yet another side to Silvio, and even more intriguing another layer peeled away by Stefano, which only makes him want Silvio more.

Dark Brother Franco, Silvio's older brother, shows up. Just got out of the military and came to stay for awhile. Immediately Silvio demands the kind of intimacy that Franco craves with Silvio, but also hates himself for.

This storyline is waaaaaay out of my comfort zone. But it's necessary. Silvio is a man with very twisted needs. Not wrong or right, but twisted. He has needs that for the most part require trust and unconditional acceptance. He's never had that. So he uses sex as a bartering tool for closeness. Oh Silvio, I could sit and analize you all day. You are a big fucking puzzle. In ALL the shades of gray.

As for Stefano we learn a bit more about his position in regards to Silvio. Very promising.

Overall this series continues to rock.

Will keep reading for sure.
