Circe by Madeline Miller
5.0
Truly truly amazing. I almost wish that I could forget it and reread it for the first time, but I also feel like rereading it will be just as enjoyable as the first time
Circe is not a myth I knew much about, so I didn't really know what her story and fate was. The character herself is so real and raw and the growth you see her have is so beautiful. She is so human and so other at the same time, and I felt such a connection to her and her story.
The every changing and complicated relatioships that she had with her siblings, Hermes, Daedalus, Odysseus, and Penelope were so real and raw. Even at their worst they just were and they taught her so much. Her and her son, and the way her love for him grew and changed, though she admitted she still wanted to selfishly hold onto him. Her an Telemachus had such a real and simple development and seeing her get this happy ending of simplicity was heartwarming.
Could not recommend enough
