Malala Yousafzai by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara

5.0

We love the Little People, Big Dreams series of picture books. Each one focuses on a real life person who has done something inspirational in their life. This new book in the series focuses on Malala Yousafzai. Malala grew up in Pakistan and loved attending her all girls school. Then the Taliban took over the region and shuttered all of the girls' schools and implemented other rules that seriously restricted what people could do. Malala spoke up about the rights of girls to attend school. This angered some in the Taliban and Malala ended up getting shot but she survived and continued to fight for access to education.

This is truly an inspirational story and we especially loved it because my boys are half Pakistani so they liked learning about someone from Pakistan. As always, the books if overflowing with colorful illustrations and has additional learning resources at the end of the book. Highly recommend!
