Viv has spent her time doing the dirty work, and now she is ready to hang up her sword and live a quieter life. She has dreamed of opening a coffee shop since visiting one on one of her many missions. Viv has found the perfect place to settle down, Thune, and has been able to find a new group of people to call friends and family. With her new property comes a forgotten legend about a forgotten object and hope for the future. Viv will stop at nothing to protect her piece of peace. Will Viv be able to fully move on from her last or will threats drag her back?

I absolutely loved this book. I listened to it in 2 days without even trying to get through it quickly. It was such a fun quick read. It was a warm and cozy fantasy story about starting over which is a great way to kick off the new year. I had heard a lot about this book and have had it on my tbr list for a while. I was really excited when I found that it was on hoopla.

Viv as the female main character is clearly a strong and capable individual who is very much used to counting on herself and being able to protect herself. I loved going through the journey with her of changing from a hunter to a coffee shop owner. The honesty of Viv’s thoughts were perfect. I know that I often have thoughts that I have no idea what I am doing and it was great hearing a character say the same thing.

I loved the play of the fantasy world with aspects of the real world. The fact that the primary setting of the book was a coffee shop was perfect. It was fun that as the reader I got the updated menu every time they added something to it. I can say this book made me crave cinnamon rolls and I will definitely need to go out and get one soon. This story perfectly combined the aspects of the real world with the fantasy world.

The found family in this story was so lovely. Viv moving alone to a new place and being able to find new people that she could count on was so heartwarming. It was fun when members of her old friend group came to visit and her past and present were able to mesh. The support that each character showed for the passions and interests of one another was extremely uplifting.

I absolutely adored this book and I am excited to read other books by this author in the future. The pace of the book was medium and the author as the narrator was perfect, I felt that I could feel the passion that he had for the characters. If you are looking for a heartwarming fantasy story this is definitely a book you should check out.
